We all want to be successful. It feels good. Success attracts people to you no matter the area of your success. Success has been given diverse definitions.
According to Zig Ziglar, in his book, Born to Win, success cannot be defined in one sentence, but it comprises many things. In other words, the criteria for success depends on context and may be relative to a particular observer or belief system. Here are some definitions:
- The state or condition of meeting a defined range of expectations.
- Success is the opposite of failure. It is the ability to reach your goal in life, whatever those goals may be.
- It is being fulfilled, happy, safe, healthy and loved.
- Success is understanding the difference between need and want.
- It is believing you can.
- Success is when preparation meets opportunity.
- Success is not giving up.
- Success is celebrating small victories
However, from experience some successes are not good. . . How do you distinguish good success from bad ones?
“This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.”
Joshua 1:8 NKJV
The totality of the Word of God is the Book of the Law. It is called the Book of the Law because it is considered mandatory by the Author for everyone who aspires to be successful in a good way.Studying, meditating and practicing what it contains guarantees good success. It is safe to submit that good success is God-given while success is self-driven. Good success can be regarded as a reward for obedience to God.
The Source of all things has stated what good success is . . . What priority do you give the Word of God in your life? How has it shaped your identity, your goals in life, your purpose?
“My son, do not forget my law, But let your heart keep my commands; For length of days and long life And peace they will add to you. And so find favor and high esteem In the sight of God and man.”
Proverbs 3:1-2, 4 NKJV
The entire book of Psalms 119 provides the benefits one can derive from prioritizing the Word of God.
What is success in your own words?
I believe that success is defined by who you areand the person you aspire to be. Success is measured differently by each person. That is why you must know youand be comfortable with you. If you self-doubt or engage in self sabotaging activities the likelihood of having good success is remote… but, I can help you.
