Being human, we feel different emotions at different times. According to Plutchik’s Wheel of Emotions, there are eight primary emotions, namely: anger, sadness, anticipation, joy, trust, fear, surprise and disgust. These emotions sometimes play out as either good or bad, mild or intense. Emotions are God given, for good purposes. When we learn to understand, use, and manage our emotions in positive ways to relieve stress, communicate effectively, emphasize with others, overcome challenges and defuse conflicts, we are demonstrating EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE.

Provocation is an emotion that is often a reaction either to someone or to a situation. It is an emotion that is typically strong or unwelcome, depending on the stimuli. While people have committed serious crimes under provocation, some other people are pursuing good humanitarian causes being provoked by the death of a loved one.

The global pandemic has provoked different actions and reactions from people and nations. The death of loved family members or friends, massive loss of jobs, social distancing and so on has increased stress levels being experienced all over the world. So, I want to ask you, how have you been coping? How well are you doing mentally, emotionally, psychologically, financially and spiritually? Government palliative measures eased financial stresses temporarily. What happens on the long run? Did it ease or aggravate your stress levels? You can take a cue for lasting help from these Words of life:

Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him For the help of His countenance.”
Psalms 42:5 NKJV

““But blessed are those who trust in the Lord and have made the Lord their hope and confidence. They are like trees planted along a riverbank, with roots that reach deep into the water. Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of drought. Their leaves stay green, and they never stop producing fruit.”
Jeremiah 17:7-8 NLT

Yesterday as I listened to the preacher while in church, his reference to the life of the Biblical Father Abraham as a good example of how a good father should raise his children to the point of receiving God’s commendation provoked intense intercession within me. I am being provoked to intercede for my family in a particular direction this week.

“For I have known him, in order that he may command his children and his household after him, that they keep the way of the Lord, to do righteousness and justice, that the Lord may bring to Abraham what He has spoken to him.””
Genesis 18:19 NKJV
