Bye to 2020, welcome to 2021, THE YEAR FOR CHAMPIONS! I did not say The Year of Champions, please note the difference!
A champion is a winner, a defender, a supporter and he never quits. A champion pursues a compelling cause. He owns the cause, takes it to a higher level with courage, hard working and persistence. A champion is never distracted. The mindset of a champion is flexible and strong. He possesses the ability to cope with setbacks and obstacles but also have the strong will to succeed and overcome any failures that may come his way. What keeps champions mentally adept and resilient is either his strong belief in themselves or a higher power.
1 Samuel 17 introduces to us two champions – David and Goliath. Both possess the attributes of a champion but one emerged the better champion for very good reasons. David’s confidence and identity is not in himself. He recognized and constantly, unashamedly acknowledged his source of confidence. It was no wonder he emerged the true winner despite all odds.
“Then David said to the Philistine, “You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and with a javelin. But I come to you in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. This day the LORD will deliver you into my hand, and I will strike you and take your head from you. And this day I will give the carcasses of the camp of the Philistines to the birds of the air and the wild beasts of the earth, that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel. Then all this assembly shall know that the LORD does not save with sword and spear; for the battle is the LORD’s, and He will give you into our hands.””
I Samuel 17:45-47 NKJV
In the words of Cindy Trimm, “ 2020 was woe, but 2021 will be wow”. I believe very strongly that 2021 will be highly challenging in ways different from 2020. Regardless, many champions will emerge. I want you to be among the champions that 2021 will produce. But how will that happen? No one wins all by himself. David had support. So do you.
